Blood of Satan...
Genre: black metal
"No God, No Satan" by French black metal act Otargos is pure black metal from beginning to end. After the introduction track "Hoax-Virus-God", this album explodes into "Cloning the Divine", which pretty much represents the style of the reast of the album which offers fierce blasting fast black metal riff upon fierce blasting black metal riff harsh unpleasant vocals and musical evil throughout... just the way that black metal should be. There are some slower sections, and even some bleak funeral doom elements to be found on this album, which stand in an interesting contrast to the fierce black metal sections. There are also a couple of tracks which are more of semi-ambient soundscapes, and they also fit neatly into the overall release.
I guess that "No God, No Satan" could be described as polished raw black metal; polished because the production is quite crisp and clean, and raw because the band blast their way through the release (the drummer's stamina is impressive to say the least) and make use of odd harmonies and dissonant chords.
I think that this release will appeal to fans of both raw black metal and more polished and varied black metal.
