Pompei Nights stole my attention and amazed me when I crank their two-tracks singles in my car back home from work the other day. I thought this is gonna be decent but I almost jumped off my comfortable seat when "Midnight Mistress" began its sensational show. If you still recall the early sleazy days of Faster Pussycat, L.A.Guns, and maybe Skid Row, this is what they bring to the table. Matt Cosby/Olli Cox's whirlwind solos is stunning, Joey Eden's vocal is solid and reminiscent of many glam singers back in the heyday, in their prime years. The second track, "I Want It", is even better. This is so much in the GNR style, the roaring and sharp guitars, the screaming melodies, the brilliant vocal, what a song! Not to mention the huge added-value of Martin Sweet of Crashdiet that's handling the production side.
If these two songs are the rough picture of what's their whole debut gonna sound, I can see it easily stuck in my top 10 releases of 2011 later on. A promising (yes another!) Swedish glam that keep me restlessly waiting for the full release!
