ROXY BLUE picture
A short lived outfit whose straight-ahead hook heavy pop metal came to late in the glam movement to make any sort of splash. Their only album was an unoriginal affair, but rocked from start to finish with the same flair as early Van Halen.

Formed in Memphis, Tennessee, by Todd Poole (vocals), former Atlanta Guitar Institute members Sid Fletcher (guitar) and Josh Weil (bass), and Scotty T (drums, who was touring the country with a Memphis blues band at the young age of fourteen).

Even an album produced by Mike Clink, sporting an outrageous cover and the debut single "Rob The Cradle" claiming "the one-take track, recorded live to tape with no edits, no dubs, no breaks, no shit," couldn't make the group stars. The group broke up shortly after, never to be heard from again.

If only "Want Some?" was released 4 years earlier, Roxy Blue could have enjoyed a big sweet success but with all eyes on Nirvana and the gang in 1992, MTV gave them a little spot for one of their song, "Rob The Cradle" and they just vanished to nowhere. However, for many hard rock fans, this album was acclaimed as one of the great record of the 90s and "Times Are Changing" is one of their power ballad that still occasionally aired on the local radio.

Produced by the legendary Mike Clink who's responsible for GNR's Appetite For Destruction, their sound fell between Skid Row and Poison with a high-octane guitar shreds. "Too Hot To Handle" cranked up the heat, "Luv on Me" showed their tender side, and the best-of-it-all is the loudest fast-pace "Love's Got A Hold On Me". Bad-ass band with a bad timing, but believe me, this is an impeccable stunning album you should have.
