Windhawk
Promising début from this polish prog metal outfit.
Sure, as so many others in this genre they do know their Dream Theater, but Sandstone tries harder than many others to convert this music into their own. And the foundations for a sound of their own are indeed present.
The guitar-work is slicker and more laid back, the synths are given more space in the soundscapes, and their vocalist tries conveying moods instead of screaming. And the music has an overall uplifting atmosphere as well, contrasting the introverted brooding of the band that has inspired them and so many, many others.
By far a perfect release though, but quite a few interesting things happening, and a general feel that these guys have lots of unfulfilled talent that hopefully will show up even better on their next release.
