SATHANAS Spawn of Satan / Sathanas

Unholy murder...

Genre: black metal

More Satanic than Nunslaughter's "Fucking Satan", this split contains two tracks straight from the dark and evil recesses from the infernal hell by two veteran bands on the American extreme metal scene.

While Spawn of Satan's contribution, 'Ritual Murder' is a fierce old school death-thrash attack, Sathanas treats us to a more black-thrash oriented affair in the form of 'Unholy Eternal'. Strangely melodic, yet tense, 'Unholy Eternal' builds on an old school black metal-styled riff accompanied by primitive black-blasting drums, which is juxtaposed with a pair of heavier sections. Simple though it is, this song works extremely well, and the harsh vocals on top of music ooze with aggression and evil.

The production is considerably good, and this should make the track accessible even to metalheads that might not be that much into black metal.

The two tracks on the split are different enough from each other that the split is dynamic and interesting, but at same time, the wonderfully Satanic image of both band serves as a neat common theme.
