Metal-made destruction...
Genre: technical power-thrash
You might never have heard about Scarlatyna, and that's okay, because - with two demos and a self-released live album - they remained pretty much underground.
The "Till the End" release contains the tunes from those demos and, while the sound is a bit outdated and, naturally, demo-ish, there is actually nothing wrong with the music itself. We are dealing with power metal which has primarily US power metal leanings, thus combining traditional metal with more speed/thrash metal elements.
Slightly progressively inclined, the tracks have a certain dynamicity to them juxtaposing mellower passages with traditional metal riffage side by side with aggressive thrash/speed riffage, all wrapped in the power metal base sound. While nothing like Symphony X or similar modern progressive power metal acts, Scarlatyna nonetheless feature some semi-technical bursts every now and then which contributes and extra oomph.
If you can live with the somewhat old-fashioned sound and demo-tape DIY approach, then fans of prog power metal should definitely check out this release, because, music-wise, you're in for a treat.
