UMUR
"Satan Embryo" is an EP release by Hungarian death metal act Sin of God. The EP was released independently in June 2010 and is offered up for free download on various sites. Sin of God was formed in 2004 and have released a couple of demos before releasing "Satan Embryo".
The music on the 6 track, 30:33 minutes long EP is aggressive and well played death metal. References to Behemoth (before their more epic releases) and also a band like Krisiun are valid. The musicianship are on a really high level and everything from heavy groovy death metal riffing to fast-paced blasting sections are delivered with what sounds like ease. Sin of God are very authentic and natural sounding. The vocals are predominantly growling vocals which are relatively intelligible but there are occasionally higher pitched aggressive vocals on the EP too. If the title of the EP hasn´t given it away already, songtitles like "Purgatory" and "Buried in Hell" should give you an idea of the lyrical themes featured on the tracks.
While this is an independently released EP, the sound production is professional, clear, heavy and very effectful and all in all "Satan Embryo" is a great release by Sin of God, that firmly puts them on the death metal map. The only issue I can think of is that they are not that original sounding, but as their product is of such high quality that´s not as important as it might have been if the musicianship was sloppy or the sound production weak. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
