UMUR
"The Entity" is the debut full-length studio album by Icelandic death metal act Sororicide. The album was was originally released by Platonic Records on both vinyl and CD. The vinyl version contained 10 tracks while the CD version contained 12 tracks. Both the vinyl and the CD version were limited to 1000 copies. "The Entity" has been target for bootlegging several times since its release, but for now there has only been one original pressing.
The music on the album is raw and unpolished Scandinavian sounding death metal. It´s as old school as it gets. The tempo is mostly mid- to slow paced with only few faster parts. The vocals are brutal growls. All tracks on the album are more or less in the same style so you won´t find much variation here. The playing is less than stellar and actually rather amaturish and the production is not much better than the sound on most contemporary demo recordings. So calling this a quality release would be far from the truth IMO. The album has a kind of murky old school charm to it, but if you ask me even that gets old after a few tracks.
Overall I´m not too impressed by "The Entity", but fans of lo-fi, old school and unpolished Scandinavian sounding death metal, might find something to enjoy here. A 2 - 2.5 star rating is warranted.
