I bleed rock 'n' roll...

Genre: hard rock

The second full-length by British hard rockers The Treatment, "Running with the Dogs" was released in 2014. We all know the story of how difficult it can be to make the second album, but it seems that The Treatment had no problems in this department.

From the opening track - the brilliantly titled 'I Bleed Rock 'n' Roll' to the equally brilliantly titled closing track 'Don't Get Mad Get Evil', the listener is treated to straight-up hard rock 'n' roll. There's not much originality on this album, but that's probably not the intention anyway. This is all out rock 'n' roll fun. The listener is treated to one kick-ass riff after the other ('The Outlaw' probably takes the crown), and any fan of hard rock should find this album entertaining is hell. I accused the album of not being original. I may be wrong here in the sense that they manage to take influences from the great hard rock giants of the past and present, such as AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Thin Lizzy as well as the dirtier bands from the glam/sleaze scene of the 80s and combine it into a style that makes it sound as if these belong together.

Production-wise, the album borrows a lot from AC/DC. The musicianship is pretty good, and the listener is treated to some awesome guitar solos and well-put together songs. My favorite aspect of this album is The Treatment's use of twin guitar leads, which, as some people may know, is something I have a weakness for.

"Running with the Dogs" is a highly entertaining hard rock album. It's all out hard rocking fun. Any hard rock fan should like it.
