Speed killer...
Genre: traditional heavy metal
Witchunter are among those bands who retrogressively look to NWoBHM for inspiration, and, while this retro tendency equals no innovation whatsoever, I'm all for it, because Ithink it was a real shane that traditional metal was obscured by glam metal first and then grunge rock.
Virtually all tracks on this album sound as if they were written and recorded by one of the more aggressive-sounding acts of the time, and I am sure that the Witchunter guys have listened extensively to bands like Satan, Tygers of Pan Tang (there's even a cover version of Tygers' "Hellbound"), Raven, Badger, Aragorn and early Iron maiden, and also bands like Motörhead and Acid - just listen to breakneck speed tracks like "Crystal Demons", "Over the Lightning", "Speed Killer", "Ready Tonight" and "Pincess of Hell" har den samme rå energi som disse bands. Other tracks, like "Road Master" and "The Breath of Satan", sound more like Accept or Priest in the mid 80s.
This is not a bad album, to be sure (although the vocals get a bit tiresome in the long run), but there are better retro-bands out there.
