BURZUM — Aske (review)

Warthur
Burzum's Aske EP features Samoth from Emperor guesting on bass, a couple of tracks which didn't make the cut for the first two Burzum albums (good call on Varg's part - they are rather lightweight and simplistic compared to the material on the albums), and a rerecording of A Lost Forgotten Sad Spirit. Oh, and a front cover picture of a burned-out church - and if Varg wasn't the arsonist in question, he has at least expressed his admiration for the deed repeatedly over the years. So, points for shameless courting of controversy, but musically speaking this is a bit of a step down from the albums which preceded and succeeded it.
