Pale Divine are a bit like the second coming of early Trouble, coupling as they do the thunderous sounds of traditional doom metal with a side order of Jesus in the lyrics. If you've dug Trouble, Saint Vitus, Candlemass, or of course early Sabbath then there isn't going to be an awful lot here that will surprise you or seem like a major departure from expectations, but at the same time Pale Divine run through the doom metal playbook masterfully and turn out epic tracks which won't redefine the genre but are excellent examples of the form. A solid second-tier effort which won't be anyone's favourite but won't be an embarrassment either.
