Warthur
A transitional album between the violent straight-ahead thrash of The Ultra-Violence and the technical thrash of Act III, Frolic Through the Park is probably my least favourite of the three albums Death Angel released before their long hiatus. It's not bad, per se, but it could have been a lot better; the cover of Cold Gin by Kiss, for example, is spot-on in terms of paying tribute to the original, but is so different from the band's usual fast thrashing that it completely wrecks the flow of the album and perhaps should have been kept as a single B-side or a bonus track. The rest of the songs are decent, but there's a nagging feeling that a bit more polishing could have made them exceptional; as it is, the album is an entertaining release but not a brilliant one.
