"Hospital Hallucinations Take One" is the second full-length studio album by Finnish thrash metal act Airdash. The album was released through Diablo Records in late 1989. It´s the successor to "Thank God It's Monday" from 1988 and the CD version of the album actually features a live version of the title track from the debut album as a bonus track (recorded in July 1989). Airdash was along with Stone one of the most prolific Finnish thrash/speed metal acts in the eighties/early nineties although they never achieved international success (nor mainstream success like Stone did). They released three albums in the period 1988 - 1991 before disbanding in 1992.

Stylistically the material on "Hospital Hallucinations Take One" is an energetic and riff based type of thrash metal, which bear a strong resemblence to late 80s/early 90s Anthrax. If I didn´t know any better I could easily have mistaken "Hospital Hallucinations Take One" for a lost Anthrax album from that time. The imagery, the drumming, the riff style (both fast-paced and heavy groove laden), and especially the voice and vocal style of Juha Laine support that impression.

So it´s safe to say Airdash don´t produce much of anything original sounding on "Hospital Hallucinations Take One". What they do produce is effectful, catchy quality songwriting, superb musicianship (these guys are incredibly well playing and a special mention goes to the many well played guitar solos), and a powerful, detailed and well sounding production job, which despite the lack of an original sound make "Hospital Hallucinations Take One" a high quality thrash metal release by Airdash. Fans of quality thrash metal (and especially fans of late 80s/early 90s Anthrax) are advised to give this one a listen. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
