"Last Supper..." is the second demo recording by Swedish death/thrash metal act Morbid. The demo was independently released in September 1988. It´s the successor to the December 1987 "December Moon" demo. There have been a couple of lineup changes since the first demo as guitarist "Gehenna" (real name: John Lennart Valentin Hagström) has been replaced by Zoran Jovanović, and lead vocalist Dead (real name: Per Yngve Ohlin) has been replaced by John Scarisbrick. Ohlin left Morbid to join the Norwegian black metal act Mayhem. The members of the band remaining from the lineup who recorded the "December Moon" demo are guitarist Uffe Cederlund, drummer Lars-Göran Petrov, and bassist Jens Patrik Näsström. The two former would join Nihilist/Entombed just a year down the line.

With Ohlin some of the mystique and occult atmosphere of the "December Moon" demo also left the band´s music, and the proto-death metal tendencies heard on that first demo are not heard on "Last Supper...", which is a more time-typical US (and German) influenced thrash metal release. Morbid are a well playing unit considering that this is a 1988 demo, but Scarisbrick´s one-dimensional and generic staccato raw singing style does little good for the demo. It´s not a terrible vocal performance but you´ve heard this type of voice and vocal style on so many 80s thrash metal releases that it´s hard to care.

"Last Supper..." is a decently produced demo and you´re able to hear most of the vocal and instrument details in the mix. It´s worth mentioning that the demo was recorded at Sunlight Studio, Stockholm, Sweden with producer Tomas Skogsberg. The producer who only a few years down the line would record and produce some of the most classic Swedish death metal releases in the same studio. A 2.5 star (50%) rating is warranted.
