This was my second Melvins album. I piked it up because I read a good review about it on a book, and I now can say that this is a great, great album, it might even reach the same heights as "Houdini". I can imagine that not too many people would appreciate this album, because of it's repetitive moments and very sludgy moods, almost doomy at times. Also, the Melvins don't seem to be so popular in this site ( At this moment in this site the band has had in total one review), and they seem to be pretty much ignored by many. That is in my opinion a shameful thing, since this band can truly be considered the best sludge metal band ever.

The style of the album is 100% Melvins style and 100% sludge metal, so we have some very distorted guitars, a powerful rhythm section, and some strong vocals by leader King Buzzo. The structure of the album is very well done, since the number of songs are just six, and the time is very short ( approximately 30 minutes), so everything passes quickly.

"Hung Bunny" is an epic eleven minute musical delirium: it's basically noise made with the guitar, even though you can hear the melody, some mysterious vocals, and an occasional cymbal crash. All the song is like that, if you're not open minded and just like the simple melody of a song, avoid "Hung Bunny".

"Roman Bird Dog" is a sort of continuation of "Hung Bunny", even though it has vocals and it's much more enlivened, wit an actual melody. Other than this, it's a classical Melvins song, very dark, doomy and of course sludgy.

"Sacrifice" is even better than "Roman Bird Dog", maybe I just like the melody more, but it is also more original in some parts, and the rhythm section is quite interesting. Maybe the highlight of the album, if you exclude "Hung Bunny"

After the brief and forgettable interlude, ther is "The Ballad Of Dwight Fry", a ballad veiled with psych rock and classical rock. The most different song off the album, and another fantastic masterpiece.

"With Teeth" is a little forgettable, even though the second part of the song ( it's only two minutes), is much more interesting, a lot heavier and with a better melody.

An album that you must have if you like sludge music, simply because it contains all the elements that characterize the genre.
