ACCEPT — Metal Heart (review)

Metal Heart would see Accept achieve the perfect fusion of the fast, furious, aggressive style they pioneered on Breaker and the more anthemic chant-along style they brought out on Balls To the Wall, yielding a true classic which seems less beholden to their influences like Judas Priest. If there is a distinctive, definitively "Accept" sound, it is to be found here.

Dieter Dierks deserves at least some of the credit for his production and arrangements. In the long run, it's probably best that Accept and Dierks parted ways after this - Udo Dirkschneider has said that Dierks wanted to make the band sound more like Scorpions, which I feel would have been a mistake - his assistance here is just what the band needed to produce a thumping classic, a perfect fusion of catchy accessibility on the one hand and raw, violent passion on the other.
