PIKE 222 - OUT OF THE ATTIC is the 3rd album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2016

Released on January 16, 2016

This album is ALL instrumental

BUCKETHEAD plays all the instruments heard

The album clocks in near the 30 minute mark, this one at 28:33

This album contains seven tracks of varying lengths

“Chew Chew Train” (3:52) is a heavy alternative metal rocker that starts out with heavy riffing and immediately jumps into sizzling solos. The solos actually remind me of the solos on the “Monsters And Robots” album especially on “Jump Man.”

“Out Of The Attic” (10:00) sounds a lot like the previous track. In fact too much. Same riffing and same solos. Really? Another quantity over quality in yer friggin’ face slap. This is a ten minute song and totally rips off his “Monsters And Robots” glory. Has BUCKETHEAD turned into a friggin’ money whore who only wants to sell his CDs to those who haven’t heard his full disco? Seems so. This track pretty much shouts that out.

“Nowhere In Particular” (2:23) is an ok but nothing outstanding alternative rocker. OK, but nothing worth explanation

“Perilous Garden” (2:54) is a bit more interesting. More interesting riffing, more interesting time sigs but despite it all it is of the same formula. Only an OK oasis in the desert

“Dank Dungeon” is another alternative metal rocker with the usual riffings, usual solos and not really anything new to get excited about

“Giant Jellyfish” (3:17) is a bit different, finally. It is more of a grunge type of track where but the bass starts the riff and grungy guitar joins in. Some electronica soon joins in but we’ve heard this all before many times. Meh. Does he really think that we don’t notice that this crap is just repetition of past glories? Hello, BUCKETHEAD! Anything new to add to the musical universe?

“Gloom” (2:15) is the coolest track on the album with a strange riff and original kind of timing. it is also grungy in the guitar department but is actually interesting. If the whole album was as syncopated and interesting as this i would love it but this is really the only track that really piques my interest. What a friggin’ shame :(

Ugh. There is a lot borrowed from the past here. Skip this and go to “Monsters And Robots.” Many of the ideas here have been lifted from that album and done SOOOOOO very much better. This one is a total snoozer for me.

That would be an understatement! This guy is obsessed by quantity over quality. I think a chicken laid eggs in my brain and this was the result

Can't help thinking this guy is spreading himself too thin. I admire your dedication in keeping up with it all!
