PIKE 321 - WARM YOUR ANCESTORS 19th installment of 2022 Everything played by BUCKETHEAD Total playing time 27 minutes and 58 seconds All instrumental as always!

The PIKE train just keeps rolling along in 2022 as BUCKETHEAD seems to be continuing his mission as most prolific guitarist in music history and on this edition of chicken hatchery theater we are delivered a soundtrack titled PIKE 321 - WARM YOUR ANCESTORS. Now does this title refer to a chicken hatchery where eggs are incubated under a heat lamp? The mystery continues.

This PIKE features two long tracks that just miss the 28-minute mark and after a couple lullaby albums BH is back with some heavy alternative rock gusto. As the title suggests, the ANCESTORS are WARM but not smoking hot. This is a pretty generic PIKE if i you ask me although there is some great guitar playing along with cool tones and timbres.

The title track is one of those all too familiar alternative heavy rock tracks that features an incessant flow of guitar riffing, a bass accompaniment and rather uninspired percussion. There is a slight ambient to be heard frosting the background. The track is 11 1/2 minutes long and sounds like a gazillion others from the PIKE past. Personally i find this style rather boring and even more so since this recycling program shows no end in sight.

“The Crystal Mountain” is the perfect title for a psychedelic space rock sound in vein of The Boredoms but no such luck here. This is basically another heavy alt rock track in the vein of the title track only a tad heavier with more oomf in the guitar riffing. The percussion is also less steady and features a few tricks and trinkets to spice things up a bit. Still though nothing on here warrants a 16 1/2 minute playing time. It’s also a product of an intense recycling program if you have delved heavily into the PIKE world, you’ll know of what i speak.

This PIKE is just yet another insignificant stop on the incessant PIKe highway. Like most of these types of PIKEs, it’s neither inoffensive nor inspiring. Just another series of slight variations off of never-ending themes. It’s OK but honestly not one i’ll ever revisit beyond this initial reviewing session.
