After the big awakening of Boston's rock and roll giant two years earlier, Aerosmith continues kickin' high with "Pump". They managed to create a very interesting mixture of their classic 70s sound with a fresh breathe of 80s huge hard rock hooks. The potent formula gave them an impressive record of 7 million sales, trailing behind their most successful album, "Toys In The Attic".

If you love the old school style, "Young Lust", "My Girl", and "F.I.N.E" are effectively brought the memories back alive. The urgent rockers with some dirty raunchy rhythm, a typical Aerosmith flair, are excellent in opening the album. Some hits such as "Love In An Elevator" and "Janie's Got A Gun" are warm and easy to love, but to me, those two aren't good enough compared to the nice groove of "The Other Side" and the superb timeless ballad of "What It Takes", which also was co-written by Desmond Child.

This is an album with many big songs, though I still found tracks like "Monkey On My Back" or "Voodoo Medicine Man" won't be missed if they're left behind. From the production side, I don't think it's their best but nothing's wrong at all. A pretty solid album and looks like the star is shining bright again for the band in the late 80s. A great buy!
