"Let Me Hear Your Battle Cry!"

If someone were to ask me what two of the best drum sounds on 80's heavy metal albums were, there's two that would instantly come to mind. One is Judas Priest's underrated Point of Entry, and the second is yet another underrated album, Saxon's Rock the Nations.

If you like the gargantuan drums of 80's arenas, this is it. Whether it's an anthem like Battle Cry or a foot-stomper like You Ain't No Angel, Nigel Glockler just slams and warrants air drumming. Of course, the rest of the music's fantastic as well, and the guest piano from Elton John on a couple tracks actually works well. Bill Byford's vocals are gruff yet melodic for the aforementioned anthems like Battle Cry as well as We Came Here to Rock.

Seriously underrated album, one of Saxon's best.
