"Thrash The Wall" is a various artists compilation album released through Roadrunner Records in 1990. The compilation predominantly features Roadrunner Records artists, but the album also features a couple of Noise International artists (Helloween, Rage, and Running Wild), Sodom who appears courtesy of Steamhammer Records, and Rochus who appears courtesy of Amiga Records. The latter mentioned is an East-German heavy metal act and their presence on the compilation is actually the whole purpose of the release, as part of the profits from the release were used to support East-German metal bands. This was shortly after the fall of the Berlin wall and a lot of similar music and art projects emerged in those days to support the East-German artists, who had often been forced to create their art in secrecy and with limited financial support.

"Thrash The Wall" features thrash metal artists like Sodom, Sepultura, Xentrix, and Annihilator, but also heavy metal acts like King Diamond and Motörhead, West-German power metal artists like Helloween, Rage, and Running Wild, and even a previously unreleased demo version of "Find the Arise" by Florida death metal act Obituary. So it´s safe to say that "Thrash The Wall" is a pretty diverse release.

Most of the tracks on the 14 track, 61:01 minutes long compilation are quality material, but there are a couple of tracks which aren´t fully on par with the quality of remaining tracks. Unfortunately the weakest track on the album is the Rochus track, which sounds a bit amaturish compared to the other tracks on the album. But I guess that emphasized the importance of supporting the East-German scene back then. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.

My brother purchased the album in the early 90s after a school trip to Berlin, shortly after the wall fell, and I remember listening to it a lot back then.

I still love this album, even the Rochus track.
