Shifting to acoustic material is a logical sidestep for Chelsea Wolfe, since her ethereal wave inspirations such as the Cocteau Twins always had a fine flair for acoustic moments and her vocal style works well in this somewhat folkier mode. Steering away from the apocalyptic viciousness of earlier work, this largely stains in folky realms of spectral beauty; more like being serenaded by a ghost, less like being shrieked to pieces by a demon. It's a brief journey into this frosty territory - the original release being just under 25 minutes, and if had been billed as an EP I don't think anyone would have disagreed - but it's an important showcase for a particular side of Wolfe's sound.
