Warthur
With mildly viking-flavoured lyrical themes and a traditional doom metal sound rooted in the best tradition of Black Sabbath, Pagan Altar and Saint Vitus, this demo album from Scald is one of their few releases and demonstrates that these guys could have really won a wider audience in the doom metal scene if they'd just held out to these present days, in which the metal community is substantially more aware of a broader range of international acts. Apparently, the band dissolved on the death of lead vocalist Maxim "Agyle" Adrianov in the year after this release, which is a real shame because I'd have loved to have heard more from them.
