Warthur
I often find that melodic death metal tends to fall through the cracks for me - being simultaneously too gentle to provide what I look for in death metal and too abrasive to satisfy my melodic metal itch. One of the few exceptions is this debut album by Sacrilege, which very successfully incorporates melodic elements into the music by way of Iron Maiden without compromising the aggressive intensity of the music. The gorgeous cover art rather sums up the musical approach here - at first glance you've got this dark and sinister mass, then on looking closer you see the butterflies and perceive that there's a touch of delicacy and beauty to the music, and then you see the lizard and you realise that it's all concealing even more death metal brutality.
