Cardiant was formed in the early 2000’s and released their debut as long ago as 2005, but the second album wasn’t released until 2009, and this is their third now. So, not exactly prolific, which is a real shame if this album is anything to go by. This is power metal/melodic metal with the odd nod over to symphonic and even prog, with a real polish. This is definitely assisted by the backing vocals of Outi Jokinen who joined the band in 2012 as a backing singer (although she does also provide the occasional lead). She has a wonderfully clear soprano that is used to great effect along with the keyboards to provide class and finesse. The guys know how to rock along and this is just packed full of hooks and riffs.
Imagine Rhapsody and Stratovarius with some female touches and you may get close to what these guys are about. This is a band that fans of the genre need to discover as quite simply this is a great album, whether you want the power ballad or the belting rocker, this ticks all of the boxes.
