Speeding into the past...
Genre: speed metal
The Italian band Iron Jaws are all about celebrating old school thrash/speed metal, and, on their second full length release "Guilty of Ignorance", they adopt a deliberate 80s speed metal sound.
The opening track 'No Speed Limit' is not only aptly titled, but it also epitomizes the entire album. Throughout the album, the listener is treated to songs that embrace the aesthetics of early speed metal, such as traditional heavy metal riffs sped up a couple of notches, screaming vocals and rumbling drums. There's even a Hallow's Eve cover to underline what this album is all about.
While this album might not please all metaheads in the world, fans of old school metal are bound to like it. Firstly, it appeals to our sense of nostalgia Secondly, the music itself is actually pretty good and enjoyable. The vocals might take some getting used to, but they definitely fit perfectly into the overall spirit of the album.
So, if you are into retrospective speed metal, then you should not hesitate to purchase this fine album.
