My Endless Wishes is a Swedish melodic metal band that was created by Frida (vocals) and Martin Viberg (guitars) in 2005. A married couple since 2006, they have worked on the band ever since, although at times it was just the two of them. However, in 2009 they were joined by Magnus Källström on bass, Fredrik Pernros on guitar, and Erik Ekestubbe on drums and from this the band started to make real progress. They profess that their musical influences are bands such Evanescence, Nightwish and Within Temptation, but to my ears these guys are definitely influenced by the first and third of that list but I don’t hear much Nightwish in what they are doing. These guys are much more of a mteal band, and although there are some keyboards here and there, they are much more for overall effect as opposed to being a main focus of the sound.
Frida has a great voice, singing without straining, and there are times when the band is very much about playing a supporting role and letting her carry proceedings but there are others when the restraint is just too much and they let off some blistering guitar runs. I get the impression that they have been polished quite a lot in the studio and that in the live environment they are even more powerful. As a debut it has a lot going for it, and there is a lot of maturity within the melody and metal. I look forward to hearing more from these guys. www.myendlesswishes.com
