This album would be up there with Sabbath and other 70's Metal gods if it wasn't for the horrible production. The riffs and songwriting are very good, and a nice diversity in styles is displayed. They range from energetic, hard hitting Heavy Metal to slower Trad Doom and Heavy Psych.
I have to call out Last Good-Bye (sic) in particular, as it's my favorite track here. The song marks one of the earliest instances of melancholic Doom, adding the sadness and longing that Sabbath and other copycats lacked. A truly landmark song.
If the production were given /at least/ the same treatment as other 70's metal, it would be a great release, easily 4 stars. Unfortunately, the production is not just bad, it's atrocious, and the audio mixing in particular is all over the place. Still, highly recommended for historic importance and some sick riffs.
