Black.. Blue.. Both creatures of the same universe. A bell rings, the beginning cometh. Church organs set the mood for this somber song and dance, Hints of normality flick and flutter through the abyssm but for now, there is only sunn. Mists, cloudy spirits possibly show themselves, yearning to be know but yet ignored, by all but the wilful. The trees, some may say, a harbinger of purity, but yet the darkened forests harbor only fear ans sorrow. And it melts.... And it melts.... And he melts.... And we melt... And the ravens fly overhead, watching us from above. waiting. The post comes and goes, and I find myself strangely out of breath. By the sounds of it, something is coming this way. Time ticks slowly by as I wait... and wait... and wait......

and i wait.

A machine runs in the background, but only seems to add to the ambiance. But then, a monster emerges, and the waving blue tides give birth to a behemoth. A dragon, most massive in its size and conquest rules the skies now.

I wrote this review in the same state as i wrote my other sunn reviews. I think sunn is more of an experience than anything, and shuld be treated as such. I really enjoyed the journey that this album took me on, and would recommend it.

EARTH Hibernaculum

This is the start of my review of the Earth album Hibernaculum. I thought I heard a cellphone ring, maybe not. The slow mulling cloth of sound is softly rubbing the skin of my ears. The droning beat pushes your body through a rhythmic pulse as it would be having a massage. I almost feel as though I'm in the American south.. In a vast dead ghost town. The notes, the cries, call to you as bringer of hopeful news of things that can be achieved. And with that the song fades onto the back of my skull and the next song takes my attention. Pointy fangs of a large wolf emerge from my wall. The poster on the wall hangs as a skull, a token to those lost. I increase the volume to increase the sensation and pump more experience into my head. But country Western has come to save the day. But he has been infected with the virus too. A card flickers on the wall but the wall itself vibrates on its own. And the surprise? It has started. About halfway now, I'll make this journey yet. In the tree is a friendly monster waving at me, desperately vying for my attention. My eyelids fly off like flaps. My face is playing racecar while my hand melts into my thighs. I can't believe this isn't a cure for something already, it's so pure and raw. The barbarians prepare for an epic battle and I remember that as a kid I used to call a lot of things reinforcements. But whats he going to do, cats already got the second floor, nothing he can do about it now. So long as it stays over there and we say over here, we will be fine. The windows open their wings to hope and the forking if hopeful escape. And then I fell asleep.

I Reviewed this in the same way that i set out to review other drone albums, because i think that drone is more about the experience of listening to the music than musicianship or technical prowess.

I really enjoyed this album and would recommend it to anyone interested in some great drone.

I'm sitting in my car listening to sunn o))), and I think I have actually gotten to the point where I can FEEL sunn o))). Like sunn is pushing again me, feeling me, like a blanket. I feel like sunn is infiltrating my every pore and orifice, seeping into my very being, coating my very soal in a thick layer of music. It is though sunn is rubbing against my ribbs under my skin, and warming them up as a mother would do to an infant in the wintertime. Sound is seeping into my skull and pushing out all the blood in my head and replacing it with sunn. The pipes above my head seep into the cement ceiling as if the cement of the ceiling is being pushed through a playdoh former, and the space in the room continuously becomes more and more vast. My skin is peeling back across my face, starting at the nose, until all that is left is my bare skull. The car in the forepicture become a dark man before I look at him. He is shaking my car, on top of it I'm sure. He's stopped, for now. There seems to be hundreds of cables depending from the ceiling. The light to my left becomes a ghastly white woman, again in the forepicture, and and she proceeds to hide behind a car. I fear there may be mice coating the floor, and that they may pick up and carry my parked car. The black space behind my eye has transformed into some massively toothed monster, and I will try not to fall into its massive mouth. A security camera just appeared out of the ceiling. What is it doing there? Where did it come from? The light is being pulled downward by the sound as if sunn is forcing out all other matter from the space with the strums of their guitars. A crinkled crackled crickled crack is in my windshield, can you believe it? The nerve of some people! The light is casting its sunn rays upon the ground. I fear there may be someone else here, and but know that to be impossible. Steam pours from my wingmirrors as I contemplate the meaning of the word wingmirror. The engine has finally stopped, for and it feels like I have been sitting here for an eternity. I will leave when the cd is over, but the the tracks keep coming, the number on the sterio gets bigger and better, and I fear it will never end. The wingmirrors have stopped steaming, but now a spot dripping red Kool Aid out of the ceiling onto the floor. I fear the song may be over, but it continues. My Hair is flowing over my shoulders like a waterfall. I realize in hungry, and decided I might be best to abandon my musical experience and go get some food. But I muster on, realizing a quest like this cannot be abandoned, but must be seen to completion, regardless of my condition. I swear I can hear elves rustling behind my head, and as trains pass through the soundwaves. I think about realizing that I have been sitting here for a long time but dismissed that thought, just as the album comes to a completion.

I wrote this whilst sitting in my car for over an hour and a half listening to Sunn. I think Sunn should be more about the experience that the music is.
booked a trip to europe in maygoin to London, Paris, the Swiss alps, Venice, Munich, Dachau, Rhine valley, Amsterdam, and Bruges
I would reccomend going to ghent over bruges, or if you are going to bruges, go for a day and then go somewhere else. in the evening everything closes and there isnt really anything to do (so i heard from an older guy I hitched a ride with to ghent). I spent an afternoon there and felt like that was enough. I personally loved ghent, and had a fantastic time while I was there.
... Prague and a few Polish cities like Kraków and PoznaÅ„ are worth visiting too, Colin  And waaay cheaper than any other place you're planning to go to on your first and second trip......
Would recommend, all these places are fun and really cheap.  SKwid2015-02-23 13:54:13
